Last night after starting the car, I hit the fog light / headlight switch. The headlights came up and turned on just like they were supposed to. However, I heard a sound like a fuse had popped. The foglights weren't turning on, the headlight motors wouldn't go back down, and the dash lights had all gone out. The radio, door lights, headlights, dome light, etc all work just fine. The problem is, none of the fuses under the dash are blown.
Is there somewhere else I should look?

are the fogs aftermarket or factory? could be an inline fuse if theyre aftermarket.

There are two fuses that operate the fog lights. Tail lamp fuse and fog lamps fuse. Are you sure those are all OK?

I can't find a fog lamp fuse. I also pulled every single fuse in the fuse block and can't find any that are blown.

Scratch that. I just discovered that the tail lamp fuse was blown. I replaced it with another 20 amp fuse, and then with a 30 amp fuse. Both of them blew when the headlights opened all the way.
Any ideas? I haven't done anything to the system at all. The only thing I've done is a new battery and alternator last Friday. Also, I've used the headlights with no problem after that at all until last night.

Does the fuse blow w/ just the parking lamps, or only when the headlights are up? If its only when the headlights are up, then make sure that none of the wires going to the headlight motors are not getting pinched on the headlight assembly in the raised position.

The fuse only blows when the headlights are in the "all the way up" position. I'll check those wires in the morning.

Bernard,
I put another fuse in there this morning after checking the wires. The wires are fine, BTW. As it turns out, the fuse is blowing when I hit either the parking light switch or the headlight switch. Like I said earlier, the fuse blows when the headlights reach the "all the way up" position. When I hit the parking light switch, everything turns on and then the fuse blows after about ten seconds.
Could my switch be going bad? I have an extra one sitting around somewhere. Should I try swapping it out and see what happens?

Sorry bro, was out of town for a few days...

Unfortunatly, I don't think its related to the headlights going up or down, since it will blow w/ just the parking lights on. :(

I'm not sure it would be as easy as the switch either, cause all the switch does is just close the circuit, not create a path to ground, so unless the switch is completly FUBAR inside causing it to short out, you can pretty much rule that out.

Sounds like you just got a pinched wire somewhere... :(

I'll trace the wires around and see what I can find. It didn't start doing this until after I installed the battery and alternator, so I'll look around those two area first.
