I went to a couple of sites and ran my RPO codes and I got the same info in both places about my car.

These codes make sence to me......

GT4 : AXLE REAR, 3.73 RATIO graemlins/hump.gif
G80 : AXLE POSITRACTION, LIMITED SLIP
J65 : BRAKE SYSTEM, PWR, FRT & RR DISC :D
K22 : GENERATOR, 94 AMP
K34 : CRUISE CONTROL, AUT0MATIC, ELECTRONIC
L69 : ENGINE, GAS, 8 CYL, 5.OL, 4BBL, HO :(
MD8 : TRANSMISSION, AUTO 4 SPD, THM 700 R4

These are exact on my car. Now here is the one that make me scratch my head....

Y06 : RING GEAR, 9.50 IN., SAGINAW, (S.P 0.)

Am I reading this right??????
Do I have a 9 1/2" rearend in my car?
I thought the F-body only came with a maximum size of 8".

I ran the numbers at thirdgen.org and thirdgen resource. Is there any other places to check the RPO codes at?

If this is true does it mean I could keep my existing rearend and just beef it up some to handle the hp/tq I want? Or is this just a screwed up listing on 2 websites?

I figure BT can probably run those codes at work for me. I never can call the dealership at the right time to get my numbers checked.

Y06 : RING GEAR, 9.50 IN., SAGINAWGM uses similar codes for different car lines and sometimes the same code will mean different things between different model years even though it's the same car. With all that said straight out of my 1984 Helms manual it is "Panel-Cowl Kick-Carpeted."

Sorry for the bad news. :(

I don't need to run it at work, I have the official "GMSPO Production Options" manual.

Lizard is right, Y06 means two different things, depending on what you have.

From 1982-1985, it was for the carpeted kick panel
From 1986-2000, it was used for the 9.5" rearend.

GM likes to do that alot which can make things confusing. For example, everyone knows what the infamous "LG4" is, what most people don't know, is that LG4 is also the RPO for the 7.8L inline Isuzu Diesel engine tongue.gif

Oh well a guy can dream. I do have carpeted kick panels. Sort of makes sence.

But hey if thing pan out I will have a 9" rear end in the future graemlins/hump.gif

Hey man, those carpeted panels are worth at least 20 HP. graemlins/lol.gif Now all you need is a sticker and you'll run 11's. :D
