I am having much trouble with my web hosting company. I wasn't able to access my website all week or even get mail.
They FINALLY fixed it and now I can't FTP anymore. I think they may have changed my IP address. I did a lookup of www.lt1intake.com (http://www.lt1intake.com) and came up with this info:
Information for domain name- "lt1intake.com"
Server: ns4.web2010.com
Address: 216.157.55.6
Name: lt1intake.com
Address: 209.197.236.29
That IP does not take me to www.lt1intake.com (http://www.lt1intake.com)
How do I find out the true IP address of a website?
Also, Bernard, I am thinking about switching hosts. My years not even over with and I'm fed up. Who are you using again? A-1 Web Hosting?

I was using A-1, but they were just too expensive when I needed more bandwidth, then when they switched servers, I got the "green weenie" so to speak, so I switched. The company I am with now has lots of space and lots of bandwidth, but the control panel sucks, however, since switching, SETHIRDGEN has yet to "go down" unlike before it was down probably once or twice a week. Not to mention UBB 6 puts a very large strain on servers, and this is holding up well, so despite the sorry Control Panel, I like it. I don't think they have there own FTP though, but I can hook you up if you need it.... ;)

Bernard, how do you upload files if there's no FTP?
What's their website so I can check it out?
http://63.99.108.154/ takes us to sethirdgen.org how do I find out the IP address that takes me to lt1intake.com ???

Here is where you find out your Domain IP address:
http://cello.cs.uiuc.edu/cgi-bin/slamm/ip2name
It appears as though the one you listed was correct, 209.197.236.29, however it does not take you to your site :(
It sounds like your host did what mine did to me, and you may need to upload everything into that address? I'd give them a call and find out what the deal is
When mine didn't work right, I just said the hell with it and switched companies. I never did find out what went wrong... Drop me an email and I'll discuss this, or you could meet me in the mIRC chat room tongue.gif

I have a suggestion for you on hosting. They are local company to me and I know both of the owners. They use Lynux servers so the hosting cost is also cheeper.
Go to .......
Annexa (http://www.annexa.net)
Drop them an Email and see what they can do for you. Depending on what your needs are it should be better cost than most I know of. If you have gone to my car club page it is hosted by them Nice fast hookup and easy access to the FTP to send up your stuff. They also sit on I believe a T3 line so the web site will be fast.

Thanks Zelda, I like the idea of having the host in the USA. ;)
Their bandwidth allotment is a bit low. I get a killer deal with who I have now, $9.99/month for 50MB storage and 30GB bandwidth (yes I said GB!).
No one even comes close to that. I know I don't use 30GB, in fact the most bandwidth I have ever used was 3GB. That would cost me $18.95/month with Annexa.
They have the same storage but their bandwidth is less. You might check and see if they do custom packages.

Not bad lizard. They don't offer near the 30GB transfer I have right now (they have only 1.5GB) but I will never need that much.

Those plans are the best i've seen in a while.
The special is only good for 3 more days though.

This isn't a lame attempt to put a "plug" in for your website, is it? tongue.gif

Well it's down AGAIN! I am fed up with the gay swimmers in Thailand.
Will, I am ready to contact the link you posted. Do I have to pay the $50 setup fee to switch the domain name? It says on their site that if you know how to do it they will credit the $50.
What are they talking about switching domain DNS's? Is this something I should try myself or let the "pro's" do it?

Go to where you purchased the domain name, and change the primary and secondary server names and addresses.

I'm not sure I can do that. See, my hosting company gave me the domain name for free (in my name) when I signed up for a year of hosting. :(

You should still be able to perform "domain maintnance". You should be able to go back and change stuff, like the billing contact, technical contact, etc... The new host will give you the primary and secondary addresses (usually start w/ NS1 and NS2 (usually)) and you have to change your current ones to those and then it takes 24 hours to two weeks for the domain name to "propogate" or be re-directed.
