I forgot all about the usual suspect. Last night I was like, "hmmm I haven't tried the MSD box." Sure as sheit! Went with a stock ignition configuration and everything runs perfect!
Perhaps the MSD cannot hold up to the high humidity/salt air of the keys. Nothing like beating your head against the old brick wall for weeks.

Bernard, this is strike two and like they say, three strikes you're out in the old ball game.
I'm gonna run it on my 92 Z28 convt tomorrow and see if it does the same thing. Perhaps it's magnifying another problem?

The only thing Ive heard bad about MSD is the rev limit chips seem not to work all the time. I wont be buying one... Im looking at several other brands now.

I use the rev limiter in the ECM. I lowere the fuel cutoff to 5300 RPM so that when I drag race I can bump against my rev limit when I launch because it sounds cool. I wanna be like rice.

Yeah I had the same problem with mine, but like you said I think it just made a smaller problem worse. I did some looking at summitracing.com and the ad for the MSD says "If it is being used with a stock GM HEI distributor, use low resistance rotor button MSD-8412. The resistance in the stock cap is too high and may cause the cap to melt" now I never had a cap melt but I'm hoping this was part of the problem.

You know, in the middle of all the fuel pump stuff, I did switch to a different cap and rotor.
It does feel like spark is jumping all over he place and firing different cylinders out of phase. Pehaps it was doing that inside the cap.

Chris, I was talking w/ John about your problem, and it made me think, you don't have the coil-in-cap distributer. The "low resistance button" is that little spring loaded button that goes between the coil and the rotor. I think that is what they are refering to, and you shouldn't have to worry because you have a remote mounted coil. But you could always call MSD and see if there isn't something "special" that engines like yours needs...
