Well I got the powersteering line fixed and the hole in the resivour is not leaking anymore. However I have a problem I need some help sorting out. My gauges are screwy. They have been this way since I got the car. When I turn on the headlights and set the lighting behind the gauges, I loose my tach and oil pressure gauges. If I drop the lights completely I regain my gauges. Obviously I cant drive very well at night without dash lights. I have replaced the headlight switch which was melted and burned from someone else who owned the car. I have checked all of my lights and grounds and cannot find any problems. I think its the plastic wiring overlay which is behind the gauges. Any other ideas?

I want to replace the gauges with a set from an IROC with a 125 or 145 speedo. I just dont have the cash right now to get them, so I would like to try and resolve this issue until I can.

Sounds like the cluster is not making good contact with the circuit board. That kinda thing happened to me when I installed my silver faced guages. I didn't have the cluster in tight enough and a few of the gauges were screwey. May wanna try cleaning the contacts.

Thanks IROC, sorry been there done that.

Next suggestion?

Can I get the plastic overlay from another cluster to work?

I had the same problem after switching out my old gauge cluster. I lost all lighting and the fuel and temp gauge would act up. I finally got them working after spreading all the contacts on the wiring harness in the dash and on the back of the gauge cluster were they slide into one another.
