I noticed a really loud tap coming from the NEW engine in the RS yesterday. I pulled the valve covers off and two of the rocker arm nuts had backed off so far that you could pick up the rocker about 1 cm. Four others were loose. One of my co-workers and I spent our lunch hour adjusting all the valves again. You'd think that something from GM wouldn't do this after less than 1,000 miles. BTW, thanks for the tip Bernard.

Not to sound stupid, but did the engine come with instructions? I know some engine manufacturers tell you that you HAVE to go through and re-adjust the valves. All the GM engines I have installed had non-adjustable rockers, so I wouldn't know

I think the operator headspace was out of adjustment....
or was it the loose nut behind the wheel?
or the connection between the steering wheel and the seat?
I can't remember....

Hey Jay, suck it Yankee!!! :D
I read through all the stuff that came with the engine and it said nothing about adjusting valves. I'm chocking it up to my bad luck.

You got paperwork with your engine? My ZZ4 came in nice plastic, inside a wooden crate. That was it. Not so much as a thanks for buying, or even a cool GM Performance Parts sticker. I had to buy that later.

My ZZ4 came in the crate with a parts catalog, an engine spec sheet, and instructions on setting valve lash along with the warranty information.

I got warranty info and engine installation instructions. No cool spec sheet though. :(
