Please post the pn for the airpump delete pulley like we talked about at the cookout?

I'll have to see if i have it at home. I found an email here at work I sent to Dal when I ordered it....it baseically says..."Dal, need AIR delete pulley" and he responded back with a price. Oh now that I think about it...I had originally posted some numbers on the old message board if that still works, it was a thread that was started by Geoff P in the tech section....not too old...probably within the 1st 3 or 4 pages.

Whew...I thought I'd taken the sheet home with the p/n's on it, but I found it just now in a stack of papers on my desk. The pulley that Tom has on his car is no longer avail, but here's one that'll work: 10129569 This is the pulley from the RamJet serp setup. It's the non ribbed one that rides on the outside of the belt. Tom's is ribbed and rides on the inside. HTH...

There is actually another noumber that appears to work as well and I think it is an inside belt as well. You may try finding the inside part number in case you can find some left over stock somewhere....I doubt I got one of the last ones. Mike if you can't find the old post I'll try and find that stuff tonight.

Hey Tom,

Do you think Dal has other sources? I used that Discount place in Atlanta that you used to use some. The guy (Roger) said he did a nation wide search and that all the warehouses were showing it as out of stock and non replenishable. Honestly, the pulley bracket I got looks just like yours with a different pulley on it. I know Advance Auto used to sell idler pulleys by them selves so I may try to swap mine to the ribbed style if I get industrious. smile.gif

Not sure, all i did was send him an email of what i needed and he sent me the right part...its possible that 3rd number i mentioned has replaced the other number....can't hurt to check through him. Just get a price from him on what you are looking for....i didn't even specify which one to him, just said AIR delete pulley.

With an inside belt pully how different will it route vs my outside?

ragtop88

It routes the same its just a matter of where the belt passes by the pulley...instead of wrapping around the outside and "straight up" to the A/C it makes a fairly straight shot from the crank pulley to the A/C with the this air delete pulley sort of "offering support in the middle" pushing it slightly in. I have osme links to pictures at home...but I have a softball game at 9:00 pm so it'll be late when i get home and I'm not sure I'll have a chance to get online....if not tomorrow night definitely...sorry...forgot about the game.

Here is some food for thought. It's using a non-grooved pulley right? Will the grooved one off of the stock air pump bolt up to it? That’s assuming that the pulley is the same size and in the same position.

Steve,

Good idea, though I don't think it'll work. The AIR pump uses 3 bolts to retain the pulley, whereas the idler is retained by a single bolt through the carrier bearing. I just thought of this ya'll: GM probably changed the design from the ribbed pulley to the smooth. I'm guessing the ribbed pulley on Tom's car is plasic? The pulley on my AIR delete bracket is metal so that would definitely make it last longer. I've seen many a worn out plastic pulley from when I worked at Advance Auto... Yuk!! They sure do shread a belt...

Ok heres a pic of the outside pulley....this is courtesy of Terry Hartman on the national 3rd gen mailing list.....as well as the following part numbers and observations.

>Just a general observation: The p/n 10186167's bracket is thick and designed to have a bolt run through it and screw into the main aluminum serpantine bracket. The p/n 10129569 is "thin" (not used as a spacer) and designed for short bolts that screw into it from just the front of the main serpantine bracket....
Thus - for me, since I was using the 10186167 "ribbed"
thick/spacer-style bracket, I have to get new bolts
and probably a 3" allthread "stud" to screw into the
head and use a nut on it as with the other main
accessory bracket attachemment points...

Before someone suggest just swapping pulleys (yes
I was going to do that too ;) ) the brackets pulley
radius' are different. I think the smooth pulley
needs to stay with it's bracket to obtain adequate
belt contact....
------------------------

FWIW I believe the one I am using is the 3rd one listed, but I don't know that for sure...I'll see if I can find the slip that came with my stuff.

Yup, the 10186167 pulley is the one I tried to get. It's no longer availible anywhere in the U.S. according to the guy at the GM discount place in Atlanta. I wish it was because that's the one I wanted too... Oh well...
