Not that I'm into fords and stuff, I just get a kick out of all the "fake" cobra wannabes I see in Savannah.

I'm just wondering what all signifies a "COBRA" other than the fender badges. For example, I have seen cobra's w/ rear bumbers that actually say "COBRA". Alot of the supposed "cobra's" have MUSTANG GT on the back bumper  Or I think Cobras are also supposed to have the snake in the front grill to match the ones on the fender, NOT a stupid horse.

So what all does it need to be an "authentic" cobra? I just love busting people out... graemlins/devil.gif

I'm pretty sure it should have "cobra" across the back bumper and the snake in the front grill. Anything different and it would be like buying an SS from SLP with RS badging on the car by mistake.

all the cobras say "COBRA" on the back bumper cover, EXCEPT i believe the 99's. I think they say "Mustang". Not 100% positive though.

I know that in the case of the 4.6L engines, the Cobras get the 32v DOHC engine, whereas the GT's get the 16v SOHC version.

I think 94' & 95' Cobra's only had a bumper cover that said "mustang" on it. The 94'-98' cars also have round fog light openings compared to the rectangle ones found on the average cars. 13" front brakes are a dead give away too. Rear spoiler is slightly different. I think the 94' - 95's were limited in color too - red, black, & white. The newer 99'-up cars have a more aggresive front bumper cover too, pretty easy to spot.

the front bumper is a dead giveaway... it has round fog lights in it.

I know you can tell the last of the 5.0 cars from the 4.6's by the brake lights, the 5.0's run left to right and the 4.6 run up and down, you'll know what I'm talking about when you see one. 86IROC is right the 94-95 had mustang writen on them, so which one are you looking at buying B? graemlins/roll.gif

It had the Cobra's on the fender, as well as SVT near the brake light, but the rear bumper said MUSTANG GT. And I always thought there was no "MUSTANG COBRA". You either had a "Ford Mustang" or a "Ford Cobra".

To me, thats like sticking a GTA emblem right above a firebird emblem graemlins/sick.gif

if the back bumper said GT then it was not an original Cobra.

And the fact that the 4.6's say 4.6 behind the front wheel wells I'm not positive but I dont think all of them had 4.6 on the fender, some of them just say GT, but I could be wrong.

The 96'-98' cars say: "GT 4.6", the 2000 - up cars have just a "GT" emblem.

IF u have any doubts at all about it being a cobra, just pull them over and slap them for driving a ford. Slap them again because u assume it's a fake cabra. And then do the logical thing, ask them.

You really have to have a bad case of "wannabe sydrome" to spend all that money on a rear bumper cover just so it looks like you're fast.

The 94 & 95 Cobra's say mustang on the rear bumper, all other years say Cobra. The 99, was supposedly saying Mustang, but I think that it was only those produced before the 4th month. They all have the symbol on the front fenders. The 94 and 95 Cobras both face to the right. The passenger side faces forward on the car and the drivers faces backwards(not 100% sure on that), but I have seen many. They apparently didn't like that and went with both facing forward. ALL of the Cobra's had round fog lights, nothing else. The only Cobra that was different than listed is the Cobra R, noticalbe now, but in 95 was hard to tell the difference. The hood was a double cowl hood, and the wheels were the cobra R wheels that can be seen on many escorts and rangers around here. The wing had a longer stomp light built into it, and was a little bit thicker. The main problem with mustangs around here are the fake Saleens, there are many real ones and there are some fake ones. That is hard to tell, except they have the stock engine in them. It's basiclly like flipping a coin, win or lose.
