I'd check the prefix code on the engine. s getting to see the engine number on the back will be a PITA.

Then some will be able to decode it for you or visit mortec.com

You could also pull the memcal out of the ECM and check the part number on it. 305 and 350 had different numbers. So if some changed to a 350 then they should have replaced the memcal too. But then again they might not of so maybe not even worth looking at.

Try and get the suffix number off the block and decode it.

He probably said its a "Corvette Motor" because it has the TPI intake on it, most uneducated grease monkeys think all TPI engines are the "Corvette Motor"
If it says LB9 then i bet you its an LB9.

I'm with Will on this, I remember when I had my car all stock. I'd hear some of the kids that I went to H.S. with telling others not to mess with me because I had a "Corvette motor" in my car. graemlins/lol.gif

The 8th digit on the VIN tag will tell you too, it should be an "F" for 305 - "8" for 350. If you think you can manage to squeeze in and look at the back of the block where it bolts up to the transmission - it should say "5.0L"

Those guys said what I was thinking while reading your post tongue.gif

305 and 350's look identical so they both get refered to as the "Corvette Motor" w/ the TPI on it. I have also seen alot of car ads where they advertised the LT1 and LS1 as Corvette Motors as well. Hey, anything they can do to drive that price up

If you think you can manage to squeeze in and look at the back of the block where it bolts up to the transmission - it should say "5.0L"This might be necessary or you might not know until you pull the heads. Makes it tough on which cylinder heads to buy if you're unsure. Like 86 said, on the driver's side there is a flat that if it isn't to grease encrusted you should find the stamping.

I just wouldn't get my hopes up, because if the first engine was swapped, everyone you've spoken with would probably know of that, but there is still a chance. ;)
