well I got tired of waiting for JagsThatWillNeverRunBecauseTheyCantShipAnItemToAPa yingCustomer so I'll go the electric speedo route using an autometer electronic speedo and a DigitalDakota box.

What I plan to do is take the signal from the trans an have it go to the DD box, and then have the signals go to the speedo and the ECM. (from the DD box). From what I am told the VSS generates a voltage pulse (AC) so splitting the the voltage signal should not degrade or weaken the signal and I should be OK. I am more concerned that the ECM is getting correct MPH data than my speedo.

does that sound OK?

what's the PN for the Autometer speedo and the Digital Dakota box?

I was told the autometer learns the VSS signal by driving a known two miles and by it knowing how many pulses it took to do that. The benifit of this is that I can alter my tire/wheel size and adjust for it.

Man I'm sooooooooooooooo pissed and JagsThatWillNeverRunBecauseTheyCantShipAnItemToAPa yingCustomer for failing to deliver an advertised product and telling me several times that my order was not a priority. @ssholes. My car has been broken for over a monthand has been on jackstands for two weeks waiting on them. @ssholes.

I"m not sure you even need to go thru the DD box, but I don't know that for sure...guess it wouldn't hurt. Not sure what style electric spedeo you want....I'm using the sport comp version.....which ever style you decide, I'm pretty sure you want the 3-3/4" size (or maybe its 3-3/8)...either way its the smaller version....the bigger one is 5", which won't fit. You can check out my website and i mention a little bit about what needs to be done in order to make it fit.

do you happen to know the part number or series for your speedo? Your's appears to have a trip meter and looks good while the autometer speedo's I have found so far look like a pep boys cheap POS gage and lack that trip meter.

I'm still fuming from JTR

Thanks for all you help.

http://www.autometer.com/hp/2001_catalog/competition/41.html I think it was this line right here....although I have a 160 MPH and it only has an odemeter and not a trip oedometer....wish it had both...Measure your factory opening to verify the size and compare it to the dimensions on the autometer page....I'm almost positive I got the smaller version...its possible they don't make the one like mine anymore....I'll try and find my old number, but can't promise anything.

looking at the pics on your site did you convert all you gages or just the speedo? it looks like all your sweep needles are orange and not white like the stock ones in the earlier pics.

Nope I just painted the needles with some dayglo orange paint...I do plan to swap the tach though since I don't use the stock oil pressure gauge....unless I can somehow find a spare TTA tach with the built in boost gauge....now that would be cool....I also at some point plan on doing some home made silver (or other color) face gauges to make them all appear the same style.
