I'm going to put a 700R4 behind a 350 in my 66 A-Body. I know the 700R4 from the F-body is shorter than the one from the Caprice. Anybody have any ideas which one will work easier/better, or if there is no difference? I expect I'll have to have some custom drivehaft work done.

It has been my experience that all truck, F-body, Y-body, & B-body 700R4's are the same length. The GM 2004R is the same lenght as a TH350 or a powerglide. The Buick TR 2004R is the most desireable unit.

I think the tail housings are different for different applications. The tail housing on our van is different than the tailhousing on my camaro. Do you have the tranny already?

I haven't bought the tranny yet. I as because I found a good source of F-Body transmissions last week.

yeh a 700 is a 700, they're all the same length. They vary by tail shafts. A corvette one is the best one to get because it's already got the vette servo installed.
