Hello everyone. :D Today I finish installing the tube runner and throttle body and everything look good. graemlins/hump.gif Install the throttle cable in bracket and it fit to the throttle lever but when installing the TV cable in bracket it look short. Could only pull cable out by holding release button to extend slider out all the way to connect it to throttle lever. Throttle will only open halfway. Could I have the wrong TV cable? This cable was order with the TPI setup. There is a number on the cable #8232 TB if this will help anyone know that it is the right one. Man I hope this is the right one and just something I'm doing wrong. I just hope I don't have to drop the pan to replace it. Hope you guys can help.
Thanks
Randal

Gives us a little more info:
Obviously, you have an '86 IROC w/ a 305 TPI, correct?
What TB did you install? What years does it fit? Your using the stock TV cable? What do the ends where the cables attach look like?

I was a 86 305 carbed that I converted to a 355 TPI. I am installing a 90-92 SD setup. The cable is new and was supplied with the kit. The end looks like a clip connector that slide on the metal cable.

Where did you get the setup/cable from?
I wouldn't assume its correct if it won't fit.

Bought it from Fuel Injection Specialties 2 yrs ago. Took me this long getting it put on. graemlins/lol.gif Figure that I had all the right parts. I may try and get the camera from work tomorrow and post a pic. Would you be able to know by looking at it?
Check out www.fuelinjection.com (http://www.fuelinjection.com) and you can see what I got.

I just hope I don't have to drop the pan to replace it Maybe its the right cable, you just hooked it up wrong at the tranny. You DO NOT have to remove the pan to replace the cable. How did you hook it up at the tranny?

Good to hear that. I had the transmission completly rebuilt and gave them the TV cable to install. What is it that could be not hook up right at the transmission? What do I need to check/look for? I will do this if I know what to look for.

OK, so you didn't install the cable. Pull on the cable, is it springy? If it is, then its probably hooked up right, and your cable is just too short :(
Look at the Ajusting TV Cable tech article on SETHIRDGEN. There are pictures in it. Make sure that your setup looks like what is in the pictures

Yes it is spring loaded. It pull out 1 1/4" and with it in the bracket and slider pull all the way out it is 1" short from reaching the throttle lever. I beleive it is to short also. I know you said that I didn't have to drop the pan but it is not hard to replace myself is it?
Thanks appreciate your help. smile.gif

Hey BT, I talk to Fuel Injection where I got the TPI from and they are going to exchange the TV cable. I will have to take the cable off and send it to them and they will send me the correct one. I have been reading the 1986 Chevorlet Camaro service manual. It does not say much just remove the cable from link and connect the other cable to link. Just wanted to know if that it or anything I need to know? Link is not going to disapear if I release it? I will be doing this coming Sat.
Thanks

Make sure you have a rubber gromet or gasket of some kind when you put the TV cable on. My bumper is covered in trans fluid due to my lack of paying attnetion.

It won't fall into the tranny, don't worry. Its pretty much self explanitory. I did the same w/ the seal, it was tore and I didn't notice it untill it made a big mess.

This transmision is fresh rebuilt and I hope they install a new gromet in. I will check it while at it and replace it.

Oh yeah, the key to doing the cable is that Throttle Body end is the first to be disconnected, and the last to be re-connected. The Tranny end will not come off if the Throttle Body end is still hooked up... I just though of that ;)

Well, finaly got the TV cable off and will shipped it tomorrow. I now know that it is short by connecting it to the throttle body bracket without it connecting to the transmission. Throttle will not open WOT with it adjusted fully out. These pic were taken before disconnecting from transmission. The first 2 are with the adjustment in and the last 2 are whith the adjustment fully out. Thought ya'll would like to see them.

I'm also installing new Energy Suspeneion torque arm bushing while I'm at it.
Will let ya'll know later when I get ready to install the cable. It came off easy but doesn't look like it will go on easy. Can't see the link but can feel it there. By the way the engine and transmission is in the car if I didn't say so earlier.
Thanks

I'm also installing new Energy Suspeneion torque arm bushing while I'm at it What a pain in the rear... Its a very thick and stiff bushing, and its hard to compress the "clamshell" enough to get the bolt started. I think I used a small pair of vice grips to compress the clamshell, then used a small awl to line the bolt holes up. Definatly something that involves creativity and patience...
By the way the engine and transmission is in the car if I didn't say so earlier.
Well, I hope you wouldn't be doing all this work w/ the engine and tranny sitting on the driveway... graemlins/lol.gif
Good luck, I hope the new cable goes well for you. I usually put the link through the hole in the cable, then slide the cable housing down over it, worrying about lining the bolt hole up later. Once the housing is over the link, it cannot come out of the cable.
