I hear of people using a certain tool to watch what is going on in there engine. I guess the can see the injector pulse and stuff like that. What tool is this and where can I find it. For my LT4 change over I am going to keep the OBDI port and use a EEPROM computer, from the 92 and 93 computers. I will also be using one of these computers. Will this still work with it?

I use his free software for my '165' maf ECM. works great. You do need to buy a cable ($40~60) or make one that goes from the laptop to your diagnostic port.

Datamaster is a really good program, it is laid out very nice, you can download a trial version of it here, http://www.ttspowersystems.com/dm_dload.htm you will still need a cable to log data.

SO you going to try and run the LT4 wit hthe '92 TPI style computer? I guess it could work if you can make it all work with the opticrap, not sure if it will......'93 will work since its an LT1 style system.

Yeah, unfortunatly, the Opti-Spark is triggered differently than a convential distributer. Instead of signals generated by a pickup coil, it uses a high resolution signal and a low resolution signal that a TPI computer wouln't know what to do with.

So using a '93 ECM would be the way to go, since you can still use the 700R-4 tranny ('94 was the start for the electronicly shift trannies). However, you would have to use the sensors that a '93 LT1 used (I don't remember if it was MAF or MAP or both) This will also mean you will have to do some wiring harness modifications :(

P.S. I use the GM Scantool, Tech2, for all my scanning needs, then I just upload it into GM's TIS2000 to plot it and such. However, I plan on switching to a laptop based program so I don't have to "borrow" the shops equipment tongue.gif

I have just bought the wiring harness and the LT1 that I am going to use. I am looking for a good price on the LT4 conversion kit with "HOT" cam. The 92 & 93 LT1s only used the MAP sensor and is still ecm based. This is the only thing that I can do without changing back to MAF. Which of course you have seen my previous post about that damn thing. Anyway, what program are you going to be switching too.
