I am still having trouble with that damn MAF sensor. I think the problem is that my alternator is not putting out the correct amps, I know that it has the right voltage! Also I am having trouble with my gauges inside. the volt gauge inside was always lower than my a-piller gauge pod volt gauge, but no big deal. Well that no big deal turned on me into the red 8 volts. My other gauge was saying that it was fine at 13.94 volts. I need to have that checked to. I also found out my secondary fan is not coming on, so I am going to hook up a switch. Now the questions:

1) How many amps should the stock alternator be putting out.
2) What color is the wire coming from the fuse panel to the gauges.
3) What are the colors for the secondary fan at for the power? Where is the relay for this thing.
4) Where can I find the fuel pump relay.
5) Last question. In the schematics there is one hot wire that runs everything. With a 20 amp in-line fuse. Where do I find this fuse.

Some of these questions where just incase something goes wrong in the future.

Thanks Guys!!! smile.gif

1. The alternator certainly has a rated limit of amps it can supply, but I don’t know what that is. Because the voltage is correct for the MAF, I would not suspect a bad alternator unless there were other indications.

2. Wire from the fuse panel (10 amp) to the gauges is pink/black.

3. Power from the relay to the secondary fan is black/red. The relay is located up front between the battery and radiator.

4. The fuel pump relay is on the firewall, driver’s side, next to the MAF relay.

5. ‘The one hot wire that runs everything’ – don’t know which wire you’re referring to. The fans do have a 20 amp fuse in the fuse panel.

Important note: The wire colors I am citing here are from an ‘87 repair manual, I am assuming your ‘88 is the same.

That large hot wire that I am talking about is supposed to be orange and black. I haven't seen it, but on every wiring diagram you can always see that it has an in line 20 amp fuse. If you look at another diagram for the engine, you might see what I am talking about. I am using the crappy haynes manual and I am going to order a Helms manual today to figure some stuff out. Thanks for replying, it took forever just to get one reply.

Picky picky. Do you want few, but correct answers, or would you prefer ala` thirdgen.org, numerous answers from 15 yr olds that don't have a clue? tongue.gif

Tell me about it. I think the worst place to post anything is at www.fbody.com. (http://www.fbody.com.) Every kid in there has an idea for a 12 sec 305 car, by changing the gears and a cam. True, I do like correct answers.

A few of your answers are just lying a look away in your trusty Helms.
