I drove three different cars today, all manual transmissions. My conclusion, I love my slushboxes.
1st was a 1995 Mustang GT: heads/cam/intake, full bolt ons, Tremec TKO, 3.73's, full suspension. Consistent 12.70's @ 107-108 MPH.
2nd a 2008 Shelby GT500: CAI, tune. Has been 11.76 @ 120+ on the best pass.
3rd a 2005 GTO: heads/cam, bolt ons, Textrailia dual disc clutch, 3.91 gears, suspension work. 11.80's @ 116+.
Honestly, I enjoyed driving the Shelby the best. The 95' has a very heavy clutch that irked me by the time I got out of the neighborhood. The clutch in the GTO is too finicky, it's either in or out. No happy medium what so ever, and the Hurst shifter is a sloppy POS.
At 16, if it didn't have a manual transmission - it sucked. Now, driving a manual is too much like work. The Shelby is very smooth and easy to drive though. It was definately the most tolerable of the three.
