Ready to come out.

Started pulling her apart. I think I've got my plans for her all figured out. I'm thinking rebuilt 400 with some home porting, EFI roller cam for smooth idle and good tq, LS1 fly by wire computer and coil packs. Edelbrock already makes an EFI maifold for the pontiac. T56 Six speed swap, factory 3.23 gears with either rebuilt posi or new one if it needs it. 4 wheel disk brakes, a nice clean interior (black and grey) with a carputer running centrafuse 3.0 and top it all off with a midnite metalic blue and silver/grey bird and stripes. Oh, and 17*9 snowflakes.

More to come so stay tuned...

Just wanted to post some more pics of the tear down. All in all, the block looks great, as do the heads. So far, looks like I'll be reusing this engine.

Doesn't look too bad in there at all from the pics.

A push rod is missing in the one pic. Is that the problem you were refering to?

Na, it's the collapsed lifter that allowed me to pull the pushrod out without loosening the rocker at all. Got to love it.

Well, if that's all that is wrong you are lucky.

Any particular reason for going with ETC Steve? There really aren't too many benefits to using it on an old school rod.

Becuase I haven't seen one done to a Pontiac motor, and to see if I can do it. Plus it would be one less box I'd have to figure out a place for under hood for cruise. I love fuel injection but I hate seeing wires.
