I mocked up the strut tower brace a little while ago...looks like it may work, need some input.
http://www.fbody.com/members/Rumblin91/stb2.jpg Is this an ok place to bolt this thing down on the strut tower?
http://www.fbody.com/members/Rumblin91/stb3.jpg Is this going to cause problems? The STB rests right on top of the air cleaner...I'm imagine bad vibration problems.

I'm not going to turn it sideways so it sits in front of the air cleaner for 2 reasons. 1, it blocks airflow, and 2 one of these days I will make a ram/cold air setup and the STB would be in the way. I hope I can make this work because it does look really cool (matches the air cleaner lid nicely).

Yep, that's where you wanna mount it. But be careful if its hitting the air cleaner. It will make a mess of your nice chrome stuff in no time if it is hitting.

If I can just make this thing an inch higher it will work. If I extend it out a little more on the strut tower it might help...just gotta wait for this rainstorm to end.

Is it the picture or will the STB pushing down on the Air cleaner? looks good though.

Whoa! that doesnt look right. However, if you notice a difference with that on there then its worth it.

Sure is tight and it might scrape the air cleaner or it already might be touching it.

Maybe try make some spacer where you will bolt it down, maybe get some chunky metal piece and put it under the STB and bolt it down. Will give you the extra clearance you need.

I don't know Aaron. I'm not aware of anyone making a TPI STB work on a carb'd car. Even if it isn't touching now, just let the natural torque twist that motor a few time and see it bang then. :(

im having the same issue with mine... but i have a solution. im going to take 2 pieces of 1/2-3/4" flat bar and make a small riser plate to keep it off the air cleaner. itll work until i get my ram air setup built, and then i dont think ill need the risers.

That's an awesome idea RacerX...I may have to try that...just hope the hood will close..the air cleaner leaves an indentation in the insulation already

Hey Aaron I installed one of those jamex stb's this morning on a friends RS... he seems to have about 1/4" of clearance over the air cleaner. We fired it up after installation, and gunned it a few times.. nothing hit, but then again he does have pretty fresh motor mounts.

looks like it'll work, but it'll be a pain to get the aircleaner lid off - have to remove a rather hefty bolt that likes to wedge itself against the foot rather hard - but then again, if you never take your lid off, it's not problem, but everytime i change the cap and rotor it makes it alot easier, especially with a big 14in air cleaner..

According to the magazine article about air cleaners, from a few issues ago, then you can just run a small diameter cleaner and have plenty of clearance and not give up any cfm of flow.

I know it won't be as effective ( so please don't crucify me) but loosen the bolts and twist the brace so it's twisted forward. A brace across the strut towers is still a brace, no matter what direction it faces. Someone over on thirdgen did it that way.
Actually if you thing about it, it would probably be stronger vertically than horizontal.

Thats not an option with me due to my holley intake setting my throttle body almost 1/2" forward from stock. I mocked it up testing both ways... it might work for Aaron however.
